JFK Pickup Guide for Black Car Service (2026)

A JFK pickup needs a terminal-specific meeting plan. Send the flight details before travel, then follow the current airport signs and the instructions for your reservation once the passenger is ready to leave.

Check the current terminal before travel

Use the airline flight details to establish the arrival terminal, then check again if the itinerary changes. A flight number and date are more useful than the airline name alone. JFK construction can change access, so a saved instruction from a previous trip may no longer apply.

Terminal 2 is no longer an active pickup terminal. If an old itinerary names it, obtain the current terminal from the airline rather than trying to reuse the old meeting point.

Terminals 5 and 7: plan for Howard Beach

The current JFK advisory directs arriving for-hire and car-service passengers at Terminals 5 and 7 to the Howard Beach pickup lot using AirTrain. Check the official advisory before the trip, follow signs at the airport and confirm the meeting instructions for the reservation.

Allow for the transfer to the pickup area after collecting luggage. Tell the booking team about bulky luggage, mobility requirements or a traveler who needs help navigating the airport so the arrangements can be discussed before arrival. Do not assume a private-car reservation is exempt from the airport rule.

Keep landing and passenger-ready times separate

A passenger may need immigration, customs, baggage claim and the walk or transfer to the meeting point after the aircraft lands. Ask how pickup timing and waiting charges are handled. A flight delay is different from a passenger waiting for checked baggage after landing.

Provide the passenger mobile number and, if an assistant is coordinating, the assistant contact. Agree on who will confirm readiness and any change in terminal. Avoid sending the driver several conflicting pickup instructions through different people.

Confirm the meeting and the onward journey

For other terminals, use current airport ground-transportation signs and the instructions attached to the reservation. Confirm any meet-and-greet location and charge in advance; the phrase alone does not identify a door or change the airport rules.

Give the exact hotel, office or residential entrance at the destination. Include any stop before that address. For several travelers, confirm the passenger and luggage count together and ask which vehicle configuration fits. If the arrival continues into a meeting day, compare an hourly itinerary with a direct transfer.

Before you reserve

Can I use the same pickup point as last time?

Check again. Terminal assignments, construction and ground-transportation arrangements can change. Follow current airport signs and the reservation instructions.

Should an assistant or the passenger contact the driver?

Agree on one primary contact and provide the passenger mobile number. The traveler needs a way to communicate when ready and to identify the meeting point.
